Here are the eight steps I use when working with my clients:
- EVALUATE. We coach about where you are now, and talk about your strengths and
challenges.
- MOVE TOWARD BELIEF. You look at your belief structures: do you believe you can quit?
- PREPARE A PLAN. Together we prepare a quit plan, looking at what has stopped you in the past and what challenges you might face after you quit.
- SET A DATE. You pick a date that is not too far off, but gives you enough time to be ready to quit.
- STOP SMOKING. You stop smoking, throw away your pack(s), and other smoking items. Armed with your plan, you will have all you need to support you as you quit.
- FINE TUNE. We “fine-tune” your quit plan, taking into account new information that comes up during your post-quitting time.
- MAINTAIN. We create a maintenance plan for you to help you stay on track and avoid the pitfalls of starting up again.
- CHECK-IN. We arrange for periodic check-ins over a period of time.
